Frisco Freedom Fest Looking For Performers

Calling performers of all ages! Be a part of the magic this July 4th during the City of Frisco's 8th annual Frisco Freedom Fest. The city is now accepting applications from performing artists wanting to appear on our Community Stage. The stage will feature local entertainers willing to perform for free.

The top entertainers, selected by a committee, will delight the crowd beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 4 at City Hall Plaza. Our "Party in the Plaza" features a Children's Expo, featuring face painting, euro bungees, and jump houses; the Hometown Hero Exhibit, featuring the Frisco Police and Fire Departments; a community stage, featuring Frisco's "homegrown" performers.

Our neighbors at Pizza Hut Park will host an MLS match at 8 p.m. between FC Dallas and the New York Red Bulls. The evening concludes with a spectacular view of one of the biggest fireworks show in all of North Texas!

Applications are available on the city's Frisco Freedom Fest Web site at www.friscofreedomfest.orgwww.friscofreedomfest.org. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Friday, June 12. A Portion of Wade Closed for Triathalon

A Section of Wade Boulevard Closed Sunday Morning, May 31 for Frisco Youth Triathalon.

Eastbound Wade Boulevard will be closed between Preston Road and Ohio Drive, Sunday morning, May 31, for the Frisco Youth Triathlon.  The road will close at 6:30 a.m. and is expected to open by 9:30 a.m.  In addition, Nancy Jane Lane will be closed between Wade Boulevard and the southern driveway of the Frisco Athletic Center during this time.

During the closure, all traffic approaching the Frisco Athletic Center will need to use Preston Road and turn onto Nancy Jane Lane.

During the closure, residents of Wade Crossing and Autumn Park will only be able to approach their neighborhoods by traveling west on Wade Boulevard from Ohio Drive. They will only be able to leave their neighborhoods by going west on Wade Boulevard towards Preston Road.  In addition, residents of the Wade Crossing Apartments will only be able to use the main entrance to enter and leave the complex.

Police officers will control traffic at the main entrance to allow residents in and out while the race is underway.

El Dorado Construction Update

As part of TxDOT's widening project, the traffic pattern at the intersection of Legacy Drive and Eldorado Parkway will be changed on Monday, June 1.  Traffic on Legacy Drive will be switched so that two-way traffic will be operating on the east half of the roadway for several weeks.  Southbound traffic on Legacy Drive will be rerouted to the other side of the roadway at the median opening for Crane Avenue and will be rerouted back to its regular side of the roadway at the median opening for Veneto Drive.

Motorists are urged to use caution in the area as people become accustomed to the new traffic pattern.

Town Hall Meeting, June 1st

Higher education, the Denton County Local Option Election and the new storm water fee are among the topics to be discussed at a Town Hall meeting on Monday, June 1.

The meeting will be held in the City Hall council chambers of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, 6101 Frisco Square Boulevard.  The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and wraps up at 9 p.m.  The first 100 residents who attend the Town Hall meeting will receive a free 'Frisco' aluminum water bottle, which is an eco-friendly product.

Dr. Jon Lineberger, Assistant Vice President and Director of Dallas Baptist University- Frisco,  and Dr. Cary Israel, President of Collin College, will brief residents on higher education opportunities right here in Frisco.  Town Hall meeting attendees will also learn more about the Denton County Local Option Election and its impact on Frisco.

Representatives with the Frisco Police Department will also brief residents and their continuing drug education efforts throughout our city and in our schools.  City staff will provide updates on local road improvement and construction projects, as well.

Residents will learn more about a new storm water fee designed to help prevent flooding, protect   creeks and reduce erosion.  Gary Hartwell, Director of Public Works, will also share information about the city's new Water Management Plan, which includes Drought Contingency and Water Efficiency plans. Marla Roe, Director of the Frisco Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), will share details of a recent tourism study commissioned by the CVB, Learn more about the impact tourism has on our local economy.  And, speaking of tourism, find out more about the Frisco Heritage Museum and its successful first year - plus, get the patriotic party plan for the 8th Annual Frisco Freedom Fest. Town Hall meetings last two hours and are held three times each year.  The next Town Hall meeting is  October 5.

Car Accident Investigation - Tollway Closed Tomorrow for a Few Hours

All northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) from Stonebrook Parkway to Main Street in Frisco will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, until 4 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27. The northbound Stonebrook and Cotton Gin entrance ramps will also be closed during this time.

The closure is needed for law enforcement personnel to conduct an investigation of a recent fatality accident.

The North Texas Tollway Authority schedules closures at times when traffic is the lightest.  All closures are subject to weather conditions and will be postponed, if necessary.
