New consignment boutique opens on Main Street

Driving down Main Street, Frisco residents notice a new addition….three mannequins that change clothes daily.

The three mannequins are “employees” of the newly opened Good Steward Consignment Boutique.

Good Steward Owner Elizabeth Rimes said that she dresses her employees daily like they are going to a party.

“They go to a different party every day,” she said. “They dress for the weather and seasons too.”

The mannequins are reflections of what people can find in the store. Rimes calls the clothes in her store “trendy chic” and said the styles are constantly changing.

This week alone she had one woman bring in four pair of designer sunglasses and another one bring in coach purses. Since it is consignment there is no telling how long any particular item will stay on the shelf or what will come in next.

“I am at the mercy of what people bring in,” Rimes said. “It’s really fun to see what people bring in. It is like opening presents every day.”

She said she has had a constant influx of inventory since she opened her doors in mid February. The store opened with items from her  own closet and it has steadily grown since then

“I never really thought I would have a problem getting inventory,” Rimes said.

Something that she feels makes her store unique is that she has a men’s consignment section. She is the only men’s consignment store in Frisco and the North Dallas area.  Among her specialty items available right now are Robert Graham shirts and a Versace suit.

She also carries woman’s designer clothing, shoes, accessories and infant/toddler attire.

Despite being a new store in Frisco she is not new to the fashion world or owning a business.

As a little girl Rimes watched and learned from her mom about the beauty of owning a thrift store.  In her late twenties she spent four years working at Nordstrom’s learning about fine clothing and customer service and now in her thirties she has taking all of that knowledge and used it to open ‘The Good Steward Consignment Boutique.’

One of the most important things that she learned at Nordstrom’s that she wants to emphasize in her store is customer service.

Rimes strives to have the latest and up to date styles in fashion apparel. She also wants to make the whole experience of shopping a pleasant one.

She laid out the store to be spacious and well organized and has been complimented by clients on the layout.

She hope one day to be able to expand her store to include a coffee shop, book section and possibly even a television for the men. She wants her store to eventually be a shopping destination for the residents of Frisco and surrounding communities. For now she will start with small changes and additions. The next thing Rimes will be adding is a Web site, www.goodstewardconsigment.comwww.goodstewardconsigment.com, that she hope to have up and running soon.

The boutique with its ever changing inventory will always be a place to visit.

“There are always treasures to be found,” Rimes said.

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce honored some of their biggest movers and shakers of 2009 in their 26th  Annual Awards Celebration that took place on Jan. 29 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center.

The night was more like a real awards show this year than ever before. The 450 guests had dinner, live entertainment, awards were given out and there was even an after party.

The nominees for the 13 award categories were from submissions on the chamber Web site. Once the nominees were in place, the chamber hired a media company to go out and shoot a short video of all the business that were nominated. The videos were played at the awards celebration when the announcer said the nominees for each category.  The videos, that were a new addition this year, gave the awards show a more realistic Oscar/Grammy feeling.

The entertainment for the evening was Frisco’s got Talent. The chamber held two audition days for the talent show in December and narrowed the contestants down to four acts. Those acts were the live entertainment for the awards celebration.  The contestants were all vocal performers with a couple of them playing instruments. The winner was high school student, Madison Varela, who sang a Whitney Houston song.

Once the awards concluded there was an after party that included a DJ and casino games.

The winners for the evening were:

Sitting in the audience at the 26th annual Frisco Chamber of Commerce Awards celebration is a typical thing that most chamber members do.

Hearing your name called out as ‘Citizen of the Year’ while sitting in the audience is not so typical. That is what happened to chamber member Jon Lineberger on Jan. 30.

“I was shocked and humbled,” he said. “You really don’t feel like you deserve it because there are so many great people in Frisco.”

After hearing his name called he had 30 seconds to give his acceptance speech.

“It was so hard to think so many people in 30 seconds,” Lineberger said.

Among those he wanted to thanks were the chamber members, the staff at Dallas Baptist University where he works, Dr. Gary Cook, his parents and Jesus Christ.

Lineberger moved to Frisco in 2005 to be the Assistant Vice President at DBU.

“Frisco is such a great city,” he said. “All the neighborhoods are great. It’s just a great place for your families.”

Lineberger is active member in the Frisco community.

“My involvement in the community could not have been possible without the support of my wife, Gina, and Dallas Baptist University,” he said. “ The DBU Frisco staff are a hard working group and I am thankful to be able to serve with each one of them. “

In addition to assistant vice president at DBU  Lineberger is also president of the Rotary Club of Frisco, is on the Collin County College community housing foundation board, is an active member in the chamber, a husband and father of three.

“I love spending time with my family. Kids are such a joy,” Lineberger said.

He has a life philosophy that he follows and it keeps him going.

“Ultimately I believe as long as I am moving forward and working as hard as I can that GOD will steer me,” Lineberger said.

When asked how he does it all he said, “I don’t sleep.”

The DeBonair Difference!

  • PDF

When looking for a residential custom cleaning company, what are you looking for? What is important to you? Many companies promise a lot but many fail to deliver. That’s what sets DeBonair Custom Cleaning apart from the rest. It is undeniable when meeting with Debbie Viverito, the owner/founder of DeBonair, that she is a very passionate and hardworking individual. The amount of strength and enthusiasm she exudes is infectious. After meeting Debbie, it is easy to see how DeBonair has become so successful over the last four years.

Debbie worked in the recruiting and staffing business for thirteen years. While in that industry, she watched her mother struggle through a very difficult two year battle with cancer. She talks about that experience, “It changed my life; that was the tipping point.” It was through this occurrence of losing her mother that she gained the strength and energy she needed to pour into her company. After four years of hard work and dedication, DeBonair Custom Cleaning is a very well-known and trusted cleaning company.

When DeBonair is called upon by a new client, they will speak with Debbie over the phone and receive an initial quote, based on square footage. Once that is complete, Debbie will meet with the new client in their home. This will ensure that it is a good fit for all. This process also allows Debbie to see what needs to be done. The staff is given a checklist for each house that is thoroughly checked on each visit. In the first initial deep cleansing, this checklist is crucial. DeBonair schedules on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. Debbie will always give you a reminder call before a scheduled appointment.

What sets DeBonair apart is the staff. Each home is cleaned by an individual, not a team. This allows for the client to get to know who is taking care of their home. The DeBonair staff is all English speaking, reliable, and trustworthy. DeBonair is made up of 14 employees; mostly stay at home moms that are dedicated to ensuring that your home is thoroughly cleaned every time.

DeBonair is very eco-friendly. It is what Debbie and the cleaning industry calls an “all green cleaning”. All products used are part of the certified green “Get Clean” line, which is a Shaklee brand.

Recruiting great staff is crucial to DeBonair’s business. Currently, DeBonair is looking for stay at home moms that are interested in working 3-5 days per week. A typical day will begin at 9am and end at 1 or 2 pm. The schedule is discussed with the associate and the owner to make sure that it is exactly what the associate needs. It is clear that Debbie cares about her staff and the importance of meeting their needs as well as her clients’ needs. DeBonair Cleaning Associate Requirements: Speak English, access to reliable transportation, email and cell phone, enjoy cleaning, clean background check, commit to a minimum of six months, and excellent references.  Please contact DeBonair Recruiting Manager, Kerri Hoogenboom, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. In four years, DeBonair Custom Cleaning has grown from 4 clients per month to almost 100 individual and very satisfied clients. DeBonair is dedicated to giving your home a fresh, clean and welcoming feel. Give Debbie a call today!
