Sitting in the audience at the 26th annual Frisco Chamber of Commerce Awards celebration is a typical thing that most chamber members do.
Hearing your name called out as ‘Citizen of the Year’ while sitting in the audience is not so typical. That is what happened to chamber member Jon Lineberger on Jan. 30.
“I was shocked and humbled,” he said. “You really don’t feel like you deserve it because there are so many great people in Frisco.”
After hearing his name called he had 30 seconds to give his acceptance speech.
“It was so hard to think so many people in 30 seconds,” Lineberger said.
Among those he wanted to thanks were the chamber members, the staff at Dallas Baptist University where he works, Dr. Gary Cook, his parents and Jesus Christ.
Lineberger moved to Frisco in 2005 to be the Assistant Vice President at DBU.
“Frisco is such a great city,” he said. “All the neighborhoods are great. It’s just a great place for your families.”
Lineberger is active member in the Frisco community.
“My involvement in the community could not have been possible without the support of my wife, Gina, and Dallas Baptist University,” he said. “ The DBU Frisco staff are a hard working group and I am thankful to be able to serve with each one of them. “
In addition to assistant vice president at DBU Lineberger is also president of the Rotary Club of Frisco, is on the Collin County College community housing foundation board, is an active member in the chamber, a husband and father of three.
“I love spending time with my family. Kids are such a joy,” Lineberger said.
He has a life philosophy that he follows and it keeps him going.
“Ultimately I believe as long as I am moving forward and working as hard as I can that GOD will steer me,” Lineberger said.
When asked how he does it all he said, “I don’t sleep.”
