Best Practice Disease Management, headquartered in Frisco, TX is expanding and hiring despite economic conditions that have harmed other companies.
Best Practice Disease Management partners with Medicare Advantage Plans to help manage chronically ill patients said their Chief Executive Officer Michael Walton.
The company takes a proactive approach to managing a patient’s health so that money is saved in the long run.
Medicare Advantage Plans are health plans that are approved by Medicare and provided by private companies. According to the medicare.gov website with "most of these plans, generally there are extra benefits and lower co-payments than in the Original Medicare Plan."
Best Practice Disease Management works with the doctors that are part of the plan to ensure that their patients are receiving regular wellness and physical checkups that are all covered under the plan.
Best Practice visits patients in their home that have not been to their doctors in some time to ensure that the patients are still in proper health.
Best Practice employees are nurse practitioners, medical assistants and friendly schedulers that call each patient to coordinate the appointments.
CEO Michael Walton, said that when an employee from the company visits a patient’s home they give the patient a general physical as well as interview them on personal and family medical history, check medications and their general environment around them. The employee ensures that the patient is in basic proper health and is not in danger of unforeseen trips to the emergency room.
CEO Michael Walton calls the service 'lower cost, better quality healthcare'. Visiting with patients on a consistent basis that are not seeing their doctors regularly on their own ensures that they are receiving proper care. Visits to the emergency room can be costly to both the insurance company and the patient. Best Practice Disease Management provides preventative healthcare so that hopefully health problems are taken care of before a hospital visit would ever be required.
The patients visited have one or more of chronic conditions such as diabetes, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The business currently only does in person visits for those people living in the Dallas area. They are looking to expand their Dallas staff as well as add staff in other major Texas cities: Houston, San Antonio and El Paso, also opening Philadelphia, PA for in-home visits. The company currently provides Telehealth services for non-Medicare related commercial plans.
"We have more business than we can handle," CEO Michael Walton said.
The company is currently hiring for five nurse practitioners or medical assistants in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. They will begin hiring in their other markets across the United States in the next 90 days.
