There are many qualities that a woman looks for in choosing an OB/GYN. Patience, knowledge, bedside manner, and experience.  When sitting down with Dr. Jonathan Weinstein, you can immediately tell that he possesses all of these qualities. Dr. Weinstein is Texas OB/GYN’s newest addition.  Along with Dr. George Branning, Texas OB/GYN has a lot to offer for patients of all ages.  “We treat each patient with the utmost respect and dignity, as if they were family.  We take the time to educate, as well as listen at all times,” says Weinstein.

Texas OB/GYN is located inside the newest wing of Baylor Medical Center at Frisco.  Dr. Branning has spent the last 15 years in North Dallas practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology. After receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas, he went on to obtain his medical degree from UT Southwestern.  Texas OB/GYN has been open at Baylor Frisco since January of this year.  The facility in itself is breathtaking; it feels more like a luxury hotel then a hospital.

Dr. Weinstein recently joined Dr. Branning at Texas OB/GYN after 11 years in group practice, relocating from Texarkana.  “I missed the opportunities of the big city and wanted my children to have the same opportunities I had growing up in New York,” says Weinstein.  Originally, from Brooklyn, Dr. Weinstein became interested in medicine after a long battle with a rare form of cancer, when he was 17.

After graduating from the State University of New York at Binghamton, he went on to study and receive his medical degree at the University of Maryland.  Dr. Weinstein began his residency training in Internal Medicine.  Over time his interest moved towards Obstetrics and Gynecology and he completed his OB/GYN training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.  “OB/GYN gives me the chance to practice both surgery and Internal Medicine at the same time’, says Weinstein.

Dr. Branning is the father of three beautiful children, daughters, Addison, age 12, Caroline, age 9 and son Benson, age 6.  Dr. Weinstein met his best friend, wife Judy, while living and working together in Texarkana.  Judy is a labor and delivery nurse.  He has a daughter, Zoe, age 8, son, Ashton, who is 1 and stepdaughter Blair, age 17.  Their kids are absolutely adorable!  Both are obviously proud fathers each having multiple pictures of their families in the office.

At Texas OB/GYN, women not only get their female health issues addressed but a complete evaluation of their general health, including screening for cancer, hypertension, diabetes and elevated cholesterol.  “Many women just don’t have the time to see multiple physicians so Dr. Branning and I act as their primary care doctor, there is a real appreciation by the patients for the thoroughness of our care,” says Weinstein.

Drs. Weinstein and Branning are very patient doctors who understand labor is a long process that needs to take its natural course.  “Frequently a C-Section is done because there is a rush to get the baby out when it is not necessary,” says Branning.   Both physicians emphasize the benefits of a vaginal delivery in the mother’s birth experience and recovery from delivery.  “The Baylor Frisco staff really helps encourage our patient’s in labor, then after delivery, with early maternal-infant bonding,” says Branning.

Wearing the hat of gynecologists, both physicians have made it a point to keep up on the latest surgical and medical advances.  “The future of surgery entails using the least invasive techniques to get better outcomes with shorter recovery time, minimal blood loss and less out of pocket expense for the patient.  We are doing so many more procedures right in the office; endometrial ablation to reduce menstrual flow, permanent sterilization using Essure, Implanon and IUD placement for longer term worry-free birth control.  We can even administer anesthesia in-office with our own anesthesiologist, all at no additional cost to the patient.  The procedure is done and the patient walks out of the office in 30 – 60 minutes,” says Weinstein.

Hysterectomies, fibroid removal and prolapse issues can now be treated with the assistance of the da Vinci robotic system.  Stress incontinence can be corrected with a ten minute procedure with minimal risk to the patient and excellent results.  “The days of large scars from abdominal surgery are fading quickly,” says Weinstein.Texas OB/GYN is RealFrisco’s exclusive women’s health news provider.  You can find weekly articles from Drs. Weinstein and Branning in our Health section.  These articles are bits of information to keep you up-to-date on women’s health news.
