Frisco starter Omar Poveda allowed a career-high nine earned runs as the Missions defeated the ‘Riders 14-0 on Monday at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Poveda lasted just 2.2 innings as he allowed two home runs and threw two wild pitches.

San Antonio plated three runs in the first frame followed by six runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run triple by Sawyer Carroll and a two run home run by Anthony Contreras, his first of the season. Frisco threatened, but couldn’t find the scoreboard as the Missions added five more runs to earn the 14-0 victory.

Poveda (8-5) allowed nine runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out two. In relief for Frisco, Brennan Garr went a season-best 3.1 scoreless innings, the second longest outing of his career. San Antonio starter Nathan Culp (6-7) earned the win, pitching five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits.

Adam Fox led the Frisco offense with two of the team’s eight hits, and also had the RoughRiders’ only extra-base hit with a double. Craig Gentry also reached base twice on a walk and a single. Contreras and Craig Cooper each had a game-best three RBI for San Antonio as every batter in the Missions’ line-up crossed the plate.

With the loss, Frisco falls three games out of first place as Midland won in Corpus Christi . The RoughRiders will enjoy an off-day on Tuesday before beginning a six-game road trip, beginning Wednesday in Tulsa at 7:00 p.m.
