Daddy Daugher Dance in Frisco TXThe Mad Hatter, Cheshire cat, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum and the rabbit are just some of the characters that will be attending the annual Daddy Daughter Dance at Frisco’s Conference Center Feb 6.

The 14th annual event has an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme this year.

“I think it’s going to be very timely with the movie coming out,” said Cara Harting, the Special Events Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Frisco. “It’s going to be really out of this world.”

Upon entering the dance fathers and daughter will walk through an entrance display that will make them think they just went down the rabbit hole and are in Wonderland.

“The main thing we want to try and create for them is the wow factor so their eyes shine when they walk in,” Harting said.

The dance floor and table tops will reflect this year’s theme and if that’s not enough, there will be costumed characters walking around from the movie.

The daughters can come dressed anyway they want.  Harting said some come “dressed to the nines” with hair and nails done while others come in costumes appropriate to the theme.

The dance is for ages four through 12 and starts at 2 p.m. with different time slots for the different ages.  The kids can go to any time slot. Each time slot has age appropriate music. For example the time slot for age’s four to five will play music similar to what is on Radio Disney.

Harting said a lot of dads come to multiple time slots because of multiple daughters but they can bring them all to one if they want to. Tickets must be purchased to attend and it is required to attend the time slot that the ticket is for.

No dance would be complete without refreshments and this one is no different. There will be fruit, sandwiches, crackers and sweets served throughout the evening from Market Street.

To make the evening more unforgettable there will be a professional photographer onsite to take photos.

“The dads enjoy this event just as much as the daughters do,” Harting said.

The ticket sales this year are on track to surpass last year’s numbers and possibly be record setting.

“The response to ticket sales has been amazing.” Harting said. “It’s almost at 5,000.”

The profit from the ticket sales is used to offset the cost of other free events that the city hosts throughout the year including the Easter Eggstravaganza that happens in March.

Tickets for this year’s Daddy Daughter Dance can be purchased at the Frisco Athletic Center or online at Friscofun.org.
