Once again, we are closing out another year that was very tough on children. Over the last seven years, Texas has lead and still leads the nation in child deaths due to abuse. What is also very sad is that half of these cases that result in death has already had an investigation performed for abuse and neglect. Texas is in the bottom three comparing state funding for protection for our children.

Unfortunately, Collin County is included in the above information. For example, in October and November of this year, 42 children were placed in state custody in Collin County, whereas the two months prior, there were only 13.

These children are small and cannot take care of themselves. Their parents are suppose to be keeping  them from harm, but unfortunately they don’t and they need someone to be their advocate. Fortunately for these children, there are organizations out there like CASA Collin County.

CASA Collin County is dedicated to taking wonderful care of these children and striving to give them what they need. But, they need help doing it.

As 2009 comes to close, please consider giving generously to CASA Collin County. These children need an advocate.
