John W. Pate Jr., D.D.S., M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has been practicing plastic and cosmetic Surgery in El Paso, Texas since 1976. Doctor Pate is also certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He received his dental degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Following his residency in otolaryngology/head and neck Surgery and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1976, he began his practice of plastic and cosmetic surgery in El Paso TX.

Dr. Pate has a wide array of expertise including nearly all types of cosmetic facial surgical procedures in which he uses lasers to perform many of them. Because of his specialized surgical techniques, he can safely perform face lifting, eyelid cosmetic surgery (blepharoplasty) and/or nasal cosmetic surgery (rhinoplasty) in the same surgical setting. Additionally, he is able to perform cosmetic laser resurfacing to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. Laser skin resurfacing, using the CO2 laser, creates new, smooth facial skin by ablating the outer layers of skin which has been damaged by age, sun, acne, wrinkles or pigmentation problems. Dr. Pate does chin and cheek implants which are a great way to enhance a facial profile by improving the overall proportion and balance of the face. Chin implants (mentoplasty) or cheek implants (malarplasty) can add fullness and definition to the face providing a rejuvenated, youthful facial profile. He has been performing liposuction surgery since 1985 and is well versed in the use of the tumescent technique for liposuction surgery as well as the use of ultrasonic and laser liposuction surgery. Dr. Pate can safely perform liposuction as well as a mini tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) in the same surgical setting. Performing multiple surgeries during a single surgical setting is safe and less expensive and consolidates downtime into a single recovery period. He also provides Botox and fillers (i.e., Radiesse and Juvederm Ultra Plus) that are the perfect compliment to many of the cosmetic surgeries that he does.

Dr. Pate is a member of the El Paso County Medical Society, The Texas Medical Association, The Texas Cosmetic Surgical Society, The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
