It was a very sad day at Stewart Creek Elementary School in The Colony. A 9 Year old boy was found dead in the school bathroom from what appeared to be a suicide.
Montana Lance was found shortly after 1 pm in the boys’ bathroom of the elementary school. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Autopsy reports are pending, though no criminal charges are expected in the case. Due to the young age of the boy, many details of the case are being kept confidential.
It is an extremely sad situation when a boy of such a young age feels that there is no hope. The reason for the boys’ apparent suicide is unknown. In fact, many parents picking their children up from school were not even aware that there had been a death at the school that day.
While suicide at such a young age seems unheard of, it has happened a few times over the last couple of years. Between 1999 and 2005 there were ten suicides reported in children under the age of 10. In a similar case last year, a 10 year old boy hung himself in the bathroom of his Chicago school.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Montana’s family. This is what would seem to be a parents’ worst nightmare.
