Crossroads Winery is hosting wine and Classic Rock from 7:00 – 11:00p.m. Friday, April 29th. Listen to a great band – The Weekend Project – and kick back with some Texas wine. Crossroads Winery, 15222 King Road # 301, makes vino from grape to glass. There’ll be dancing and fun close to home at Frisco’s neighborhood wine bar. For reservations call 972-294-4144.
Friday is opening night for The Frisco Area Children’s Theater’s presentation of “The Pale Pink Dragon” at the Frisco Black Box Theater at 8400 North Dallas Parkway. Find out what’s happened to Princess Pinkie in this play for kids of all ages. The curtain rises at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. Bike for a cause as the Sam’s Club Ride for Multiple Sclerosis starts bright and early at 7:00 a.m. Saturday at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. Join 3100 cyclists on a 153-mile two-day ride from Frisco to Fort Worth, organized by the National MS Society’s Lone Star Chapter. The chapter hopes to make its fundraising goal of $2.5 million. Roll out from Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, enjoy an overnight pit stop at Texas Motor Speedway, and finish at historic Sundance Square in Ft. Worth. Friday April 29th is the last day for cyclists to sign up between 4:00 and 9:00p.m. at the event expo at the Embassy Suites by the Dr. Pepper Ballpark. The fee including late registration is $375. If you aren’t up to riding 150+ miles, come out and support the cyclists!
Now that the weather’s getting nicer and you’ve been thinking of getting back into a running routine, why not join the Frisco Running Club? Their Spring/Summer Introduction program kicks off at 8:00 a.m. at the Frisco CrossFit Gym located at 9410 Dallas Parkway, Suite 150. Runners will take part in a clinic demonstrating natural running technique followed by a two-mile fun run, and free use of the gym.
For the young major leaguer in your life, head to Dr. Pepper Ballpark at 9:30 a.m. for a free Legends for Youth Kids Clinic presented by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. Former Major League baseball players including pitchers Rollie Fingers and Lee Smith, outfielders Dante Bichette and Bernie Williams, catcher Jim Sundberg, and first baseman Jack Clark will teach you the fundamentals of the game until noon followed by a picture and autograph session. Stick around and watch the legends play with century-old rules beginning at 1:30p.m. The clinic is free but the game costs $15.
For rock and roll aficionados, Pizza Hut Park is the place to be this Saturday as the 21st Annual Edgefest kicks off an all-day concert on two stages at 11:00a.m. featuring Jane’s Addiction and Weezer. Social Distortion, Seether, Neon Trees, A Day to Remember, The Airborne Toxic Event, Panic at the Disco, Young the Giant, and Electric Touch play on the Main Stage while Flogging Molly, The Dirty Heads, Middle Class Rut, New Politics, and AWOL Nation rock the Second Stage. On Sunday evening watch FC Dallas host the Los Angeles Galaxy at 6:00p.m. at Pizza Hut Park. Not only can you watch our team play major league soccer, this Sunday TAXIS will be handing out free maracas to the first 5,000 fans to mark Cinco de Mayo – a couple of days early. Fans will have a chance to win a free iPad. Tickets start at $20 and up.
