The Frisco Board of Trustees had a glance at the budget for the 2010-2011 school year at Monday night's school board meeting and it showed a budget shortfall.

The board was told these were very primitive numbers and they could expect to see more accurate figures as early as next month. Next year’s expected revenue is currently projected at $278,594,000 and is based on a growth of 2,800 students and a zero percent growth in tax rate.

There were several options also discussed to deal with the budget deficit including that they could raise the rate on the rate on the maintenance and operation portion of the budget, they could only give raises to those that the state requires raises go to or they could adopt a deficient budget and use fund balance to make it balanced. It was pointed out that Frisco ISD has the lowest M&O budget of any district in Region 10.

They will continue to look at the budget and numbers can be expected to change as adoption time draws closer. There will be budget update at next month’s school board meeting.
