Frisco Independent School District’s five high school orchestras all had students competing at the UIL Solo & Ensemble contest in February. The student results were reported from the  following schools:

 Centennial High School under the direction of Dr. Priscilla Holt:

The six outstanding CHS soloists receiving regional medals are:

Sarah (Yein) Park, Shane Andrews, Alysia Chen, Min Ji Kim,

Christina Clawson and Neri Wade.

 

The fifteen outstanding ensemble members receiving regional medals are:

Mozart, Quintet, “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”: Kirsten Roberts; Emma Chibnall, David Ford, Min Ji Kim, and Alex Chivian.

 

Haydn, Mixed Trio: Sophia Miao, Josh Davila, and Josh Sulak.

 

Telemann, Quartet for Four Violins: Christina Clawson, Kirsten Roberts, Roger Tang and Josh Davila

 

Mozart Violin Trio: Aysia Chen, Sarah (Yein) Park & Susan Yi

 

The 14 students from the CHS Orchestra who have advanced to the state UIL competition to be held in Austin on May 29th are :

David Ford, Sarah Park, Susan Yi , Alysia Chen, Emma Chibnall, Alex Chivian, Min Ji Kim, Sophia Miao,  Christina Clawson, Josh Davila, Kirsten Roberts, Josh Sulak, Roger Tang and Neri Wade.

 Frisco High School under the direction of Julie Daniels:

Of the 11 FHS participants, the following students received a "Superior" rating on their solos:

 

Ajani Brown, Patricia Holt, SeJin Kim, Rachel Smith, and Kristin Waymel.

 

Ajani Brown, Patricia Holt and Kristin Waymel also qualified to participate in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest in May.

 Heritage High School under the direction of Elizabeth M. Balkema: Students receiving Regional medals were:Jordan Fuchs ,Shweti Rajagopal , and Emily Younger. Jordan Fuchs also qualified to advance to state. Liberty High School under the direction of Richard Hohmann:

The All-State Solo and Ensemble Qualifiers from Liberty are :

Benjamin Hong,  Christine Park, Odelia Kim,Thomas Hsu, Raymond Wen,

Justin Wong, Ryan Kao, Benjamin Hong, David Tak, Grace Fu, Alex Gamez,

Divya Kasety, and Nick Wong.

 Wakeland High School under the direction of Liudmila B. Duston: The WHS Orchestra claimed a total of 9 medals at UIL Regional competition. Advancing to State competition are five soloists: Jessie Carver Ellison Jackson, Jordan Valdez, Cameron Hamer, and Drew Acosta; and a violin quartet made up of  Jessie Carver, Drew Acosta, Jordan Valdez, and Brea Sloboda.
