Shawnee Trail Elementary celebrated their tenth anniversary of being open on Thursday night at a family-friendly celebration.

“It’s really exciting,” Principal Sherri Wakeland said about the anniversary. “I remembered back when we opened we were number six to open in Frisco and now there are 28.

Former and current staff, students and parents were invited to attend the evening. The night started off with a small ceremony to recognize the 13 staff members that have been with the school since it opened and then them the family fun began. There was a cake walk, popcorn, balloon animals, face painting, photography and dance mania for the students to partake in.

The events were manned by staff and parent teacher association members. The staff also made the more than 40 cakes that were given away at the cake walk station.

Every school does something when they reach the 10 year mark but Wakeland wanted to make sure that her school did something that would honor those that served as teachers and enabled parents, students and former students a good time.
