TEXAS LEGENDS SELL 13,000TH TICKET

Five months before their first game in team history, the Texas Legends have already
sold 13,000 tickets to a fan-base growing by the hour.

Legends Owners Donnie Nelson and Evan Wyly hoped for strong sales in the team’s
first season, but never expected to be in the upper tier of the NBA Development
League in ticket sales months before any Legends officially take the court.

We have had an absolute blast and the response from our fans has been legendary!”
Nelson commented.  “Sales are rocking and so will the house!  Thank you Texas!”
The Legends inaugural season will tip-off this November.
"We appreciate the support from Texas Legends fans and look forward to a great
season with the rising stars of the NBA and family-friendly entertainment” Wyly
commented.

Some sections are already sold out for every game of the 2010-2011 season.
“I’m excited but not surprised,” said team President Bill Boyce.  “The Texas Legends
offer kidtastic family fun, business development opportunities, and the chance to
live history with Coach Nancy Lieberman.”

The Legends only revealed their Lone Star State-inspired logo on May 22, and their
team name on April 12, yet the mystery did not prevent any fans from snatching up
season tickets, surprising officials from other league teams all the way up to the
NBA league office.

Anticipating the ticket sales only to continue, the Legends will give whoever buys
the 15,000th ticket a prize consisting of autograph items from the Legendary staff
of Owners Donnie Nelson and Evan Wyly, Head Coach Nancy Lieberman, and President of
Basketball Operations Spud Webb, as well as Legends apparel, and gift cards to local
businesses.

Frisco D League coach has dinner with President Obama

Frisco D League coach has dinner with President ObamaThe President and First Lady have invited Basketball
Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman to the White House in honor of Jewish American
Heritage Month.
Lieberman will join other prominent Jewish Americans at a reception with President
Obama and his family on May 27.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for me and I look forward to visiting the White
House and President Obama,” Lieberman commented.  “To share this experience with a
fellow basketball lover like President Obama makes it even more exciting for me.
My heritage is very important to me and I never want to forget from where I came.”
President Obama has continued the tradition President George W. Bush started of
proclaiming May as Jewish American Heritage Month. Jewish Americans from all walks
of life were invited to the reception, including members of Congress, business
leaders, military veterans and astronauts.
“The Jewish American story is an essential chapter of the American narrative,” the
President said in a press release. “As leaders in every facet of American life –
from athletics, entertainment and the arts to academia, business, government and
our armed forces – Jewish Americans have shaped our Nation and helped steer the
course of our history.”
Lieberman, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, twice made Olympic teams,
winning a silver medal as an 18-year-old in 1976. In 1980, she withdrew from the
Olympic squad in support President Jimmy Carter’s boycott of the 1980 Summer
Olympics in Moscow.
While playing for Old Dominion University between her two Olympic stints, Lieberman
twice won the Wade Trophy, awarded annually to the national player of the year in
college women’s basketball.

Frisco wins in extra again

Frisco wins in extra againFrisco and San Antonio needed extra innings for the third straight game.  The
RoughRiders won the latest affair 9-6 in 12 innings.  The two teams played split the
last two games which lasted 13 innings each.  Frisco used six different pitchers out
of the bullpen after Martin Perez was pulled in the fifth inning.  Matt Harrison was
one of those arms (on a rehab assignment from the Rangers).  Harrison threw 18
pitches in a scoreless sixth inning and allowed one hit.  Most of the damage to
Perez came with two outs in the fifth.  He allowed four runs on five hits and two
walks.  One of the hits was a two-run home run.  He tied his season-low with two
strikeouts.  Warner Madrigal allowed the other two runs after he walked the bases
full and allowed a two-run single in the 7th.  Ben Snyder allowed one base runner in
his 2.1 innings and fanned three.  Adalberto Flores picked up the win for his two
scoreless innings in which he allowed two base runners.  Cody Eppley got his third
save after a perfect 12th inning.

Offensively, the box score was packed with multi-hit games from Renny Osuna, Emerson
Frostad, Joey Butler, and Taylor Teagarden.  James Tomlin and Elio Sarmiento both
walked twice and Matt Lawson scored three runs in his 1-5 night in which he tripled,
walked and was hit by a pitch.  Frostad finished 4-6 with a triple and 2 RBIs and
Teagarden went 3-6 with a two-run homer.

Frisco ended its road trip with a 5-3 record.  It has Tuesday off before it returns
to Frisco to start a three-game series with Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday.  The
pitching matchup for Wednesday is Blake Beavan vs. Aaron Crow.  First pitch is at
7:05.
