For the 2ND week in a row the Texas Tornadoes are shut out, but this time it was the the first place team. In game one they were defeated 3-2 and Topeka out shot them 35-19. Scott Deur and Rock Einerson accounted for the two Texas goals. Texas had some life and had a chance to get right back in it when Rock tied the game 0:58 seconds into the third period, however Topeka answered with Justin Kivac's goal ten minutes later. In game 2 of the doubleheader, Topeka came out with a 4-1 lead in the first period. Things were not looking good for the Texas Tornadoes, but when James Howard scored his second power play goal of the game and Scott Deur also added a power play goal, things started to look up. In the third period James Howard scored a hat trick with another power play goal to and Scott Deur also scored to tie the game 5-5. His second of the game. This all of sudden got ugly as the Tornadoes just could not stop their attack. Topeka scored the next three goals in the remaining six minutes of the game to make it and 8-5 final. The final goal on an empty net. Texas had 4 power play goals in this game and show that they can score against the big boys. The Tornadoes showed alot of poise being down 4-1 in the first period and battling back to tie the game in the third. Tornadoes goalie Dan Sullivan stopped 28 of 34 shots against the number one team in the division. They would have liked to come out with at least one of the two, but they will regroup and return home to host Fairbanks on Wednesday, and play them again on Friday and Saturday to hopefully end this streak of bad luck and get back on track.
Come out and see the Texas Tornado play hockey in Frisco, TX and the Stars Center at Gaylord and the Tollway
