The Colin County Commissioner’s Court met yesterday and authorized funding for two Frisco road projects and a biking and hiking trail. The total allotted to the projects was $6.3 million. All funds come from past county bonds.
The largest portion of the funding will go to widening the Dallas Parkway from two to three lanes on both sides of the road from State Highway 121 to Eldorado Parkway. In addition new turn lanes will be added at intersections.
This area will include the “$5 Billion Mile” along Dallas North Tollway from Warren to Lebanon Road.
The county is contributing approximately $5 million of the projected $19.5 million cost.
The city will also be widening a section of Lebanon Road from Starwood Drive to Dallas Parkway from four to six lanes.
Collin County will be paying for half of the $2.3 million estimate.
Along with the road expansions the county is contributing $150,000 to the construction of a biking and hiking trail. The total cost of the trail is $1.3 million.
