FISD Offers Immunizations

Frisco ISD will host immunization clinics this summer to assist new and returning students who may be missing required vaccines for the 2015-2016 school year.

State law requires children to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases to attend school in Texas.

Clinics will be held on July 7-10, July 17 and July 24 between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. daily at Vandeventer Middle School, 6075 Independence Parkway, Frisco, TX, 75035.

A parent or guardian must accompany each student. Please bring your child’s vaccine record with you.

Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, United HealthCare and Aetna PPO plans will be accepted. HMO plans will not be accepted. Families must bring a photo copy of their insurance card and the driver’s license of the insured individual.

If the student is covered by Medicaid, please bring a copy of the insurance card.

Children under 18 who do not have any insurance can receive vaccines at a cost of $10 per shot.

If the student is covered by an insurance plan that is not outlined above, he or she can receive vaccines at the prices listed below. Please note that only cash or check will be accepted. A receipt will be provided so that families may submit a claim to their insurance company for any potential reimbursement.

  • Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTap) – $45
  • Gardasil – $185
  • Haemophilus Influenzae Type b (Hib) – $45
  • Hepatitis A – $45

  • Varicella (Chickenpox) – $100

If you have questions regarding required vaccines for the 2015-2016 school year, please contact your school nurse or visit the Texas Department of State Health Services website.

The requirements are most likely to affect your child if he or she is entering kindergarten, seventh grade or has never attended school in Texas, though students entering other grade levels may be impacted as well.

Frisco ISD schools require up-to-date immunization records in order to find out a student’s teacher at Elementary Meet the Teacher Night or to pick up his or her class schedule at secondary schools.

Parents should return new or updated immunization information along with proof of residency to ensure successful registration for the 2015-2016 school year.

The first day of class is Monday, August 24, 2015.
