Golfers Advance to State Competition

Frisco ISD student athletes from Centennial, Frisco, Liberty and Wakeland high schools qualified to compete in the 2014-2015 Boys and Girls Golf State Championships, scheduled April 27 and 28 at Wolfdancer Golf Club in Lost Pines, Texas.

Brandon Smith of Frisco High School was the boys’ individual regional champion, while Brielle Ward of Wakeland High School was the girls’ individual regional champion.

The Liberty girls’ A team took second place at the regional tournament and will also compete at state. Members of the qualifying team included Cheleen Cousins, Makenna Davidson, Darby Deans, Loren Matrone and Natasha Sun.

Also advancing to state is Katie Crumbley of Centennial High School, who finished 10th at the regional tournament.
