The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Take Care of Texas program has announced the winners of its K-5 art contest.
Students were asked to submit artwork showing how they help keep the air and water clean, conserve water and energy, and reduce waste.
After receiving more than 2,600 artwork submissions from across the state, Ava White, a 5th grader from Pink Elementary School in Frisco, was awarded the grand prize.
TCEQ Chairman Bryan W. Shaw Ph.D. P.E., Commissioners Toby Baker and Zak Covar, Region 4 Director Tony Walker, and a representative from the contest partner, Samsung Austin Semiconductor presented her with a new Samsung laptop in Austin on May 6.
Winners were also chosen from each of the TCEQ’s regional office areas.
The winning pieces were showcased on the Take Care of Texas and TCEQ websites, in newsletters, and social media posts.
