Students Offer Products and Service at Phillips Market Day

Phillips Elementary second grade teacher Wendy Rodriguez got her hair done by a professional stylist, a.k.a. student, in May as part of “Market Day,” an opportunity for second graders to sell products and services to teachers, administrators and other students.

Teachers provided fake money to potential customers and then customers browsed stores set up in classrooms and throughout the grade level hallway to decide what they would like to purchase.

The goal of Market Day was to teach students about producing/consuming, goods/services, supply/demand and advertisement/promotions through media literacy.
