Have you ever been drawn into military homecoming videos on YouTube? Well a school in Frisco’s ISD just had one of those surprise reunions of their own.
On March 27, Army Major Aysha Meyers returned home to surprise her twin boys after a nine-month deployment in Kuwait. Her sons, Wyatt and Urijah Hess, were not aware of their mother’s homecoming and with the help of the staff at Riddle Elementary School she was able to pull off the surprise at a special morning assembly.
The boys’ live with their grandmother in Frisco as their father is also in the Army and stationed in New York.
This was not Major Meyers first tour as she serving in Afghanistan in 2007 before the boys were born. She was able to keep in touch with her family over video chats while away.
This is the first time Meyers has seen her children since their first day of school.
“They have just changed so much,” Meyers said. “Their speech is a lot better, they can read a lot better, they can count a lot better, they have just learned so much since I’ve been gone.”
Wyatt and Urijah showed their mother around their kindergarten classroom after the assembly ended.
